Originally presented by Turner Broadcasting in 1993 and now presented by the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc., the Trumpet Awards were created to herald the accomplishments of Black Americans who have succeeded against immense odds.  Special recognition is given to the few, who symbolize the many, who have overcome the ills of racism and poverty and achieved special greatness.  The 17th Annual Trumpet Awards black-tie ceremony, with hosts Sherri Shepherd, co-host of "The View" and Anthony Anderson, star of "Law and Order," was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.


The annual Trumpet Awards acknowledges the accomplishments of men and women who have    significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for all…individuals and/or groups who augment the richness of this great global society by partnering with the cause of justice and equality of all.  Other events and activities that took place during the awards weekend included the Prayer Breakfast and High Tea with High Heels which was held on Friday at Hyatt Regency Hotel. An induction of thirteen new footprints were placed into the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame.  This induction ceremony was held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, National Park Service, located at 450 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, GA. The program preceding the induction ceremony was held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church.


The Fashion segment of High Tea with High Heels, proved to be a stellar performance, which left the crowd in awe!  The Fashion Show Director for The Trumpet Awards as well as the Founder/CEO of Headline Entertainment, Mr. Al Watson, established his company in 2004, right here in Atlanta, GA.  Headline Entertainment is better known for providing outstanding community service, productions and event planning.  Their specialties are in the areas of fashion, hair/skincare and the performing arts....but not limited too. Along with the other gifted individuals that entire weekend, Mr. Watson was also awarded one of the prestigious awards by The Trumpet Awards for his teams outstanding performance and his impeccable professionalism.  Way to go AL!!
